Batman-The Dark Knight, The Caped Crusader, Vigilante, The Bat, these are all names for...The Batman. Bruce Wayne protects the city of Gotham from the crime of the citie's underworld.

Green Lantern- The Green Lantern uses a ring that channels pure willpower in the form of green energy. This energy can be used to do just about anything the wielder can imagine, from blasting a ray of energy like a laser, protecting the user with a force field, allowing them to fly, and even create solid objects. Hal Jordan was the best of the series and is pictured below.

The Flash- They have been called the Fastest Men Alive – three generations of super heroes granted the power to tap into the extradimensional energy field called the Speed Force by a scientific experiment gone awry. Each hero named himself the Flash and became champions, perpetuating a legacy of courage and valor. The three different "Flash's" were Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, and Wally West. Pictured below is Wally West.

Honorable Mention: Martian ManHunter
Out of the 3 of these, Green Lantern and Batman have great comic series.

Wow you are soooo wrong, first off there are easily five D.C. superheroes as good as the five Marvel's you listed.
1. Batman
2. Green Lantern
3. Superman
4. Martian Man Hunter
5. Flash
There are many many more, but it goes without saying that D.C. is better. Good day to you sir.
oh and The Watchmen beat the X-Men lol
Thank you for stating your opinion on the matter even though you have no sufficient knowledge about any of the characters. And the fact that you never read comics or graphic novels definitely helps your case. lol. Superman is way overrated, but I'm not saying he sucks or anything. By the way, The Watchmen is a great novel, but it is more about vigilantes than superpowered mutants. You probably would have known that if you had read it. Boom, Roasted. lol. Good Day Sir :)

leads you to one of hundreds of polls that agree that Marvel is better. I love some of the DC Characters, but Marvel is better when it comes to writers, artists, and characters.
So are you saying that I have no right to decide which characters are better just because I don't read the comics? I watch the movies, the T.V. shows and I am alive in the internet age, which means I can go to wikipedia and find summaries on every hero. All I am saying sir, is that you could just as easily name 5 D.C. characters as you could name 5 Marvel characters. I understand that you didn't and we simply have a difference of opinion on which group we like. I prefer the D.C. group because when you read there stories, it actually seems like they are superheros. I want them to seem extra-ordinary in their nature almost to the point of disbelief. Marvel fails to do this for me. All the Marvel stories seem to try and make whiny teenagers into heroes who have "real world" problems. That's cool if you like it, but it's not my cup of tea.
Congratulations on trying to suppress my opinion with your superior knowledge though :)
First of all, the whiny teenager you speak of only regards one character; Spiderman. Secondly, I was not trying to suppress your opinion but merely defending myself against your first comment. lol. DC is great and Marvel is great. I like both, you are on a one track mind. Five heroes could've been named, but not as easily. It almost impossible to name ten good DC characters, but it is very easy to do so for Marvel. I respect your opinion, but you should read the comics on both sides. I guarantee you will have a change of heart. ;)
this, my young scholars, is argument - please continue
fyi: i like my superheroes to be human - that way i can relate to them - i can't relate to someone from another planet or someone bitten by a spider or a person who likes to play with radioactive legos
I would completely agree with Masseur McArdle. I like to relate to my characters. All of the Marvel characters I listed are humans. I am not a big fan of Spiderman myself. The only well-known DC character that really can be classified as "human" is Batman. Marvel offers many more than just one. My main requirement for a good superhero is personality. A great personality makes for a great character. By the way, my good friend Jacob, you have no ethos when it comes to this subject, so therefore your credibility on the subject is weak. Wikipedia is a really stupid thing to use, considering its not very reliable and is just a summary. If you really want to know a character, then get to know them by reading about them in comic issues. I invite you to read comics with me and maybe you'll find it a great hobby.
P.S. Who plays with radioactive legos?
