BATHROOM BUDDIES

This was a project we (Andrew and I) did about two years ago. We were required to use certain elements and we had to create this video in 24 hours!!!!!! Talk sleep deprivation.

TV Edits make things more entertaining

The GameBoy Timeline

I thought this was neat. Over the years, I've owned three of the different models. I had the original gameboy, then the pocket, and finally the gameboy advanced. I spent many hours on those things, most of which was spent playing pokemon.

A Duel Gone Bad

While surfing the net I came across this crazy story about 2 people dying after a sword fight in Indy. Pretty Crazy.

Police say a second person has died as a result of a sword fight last week in Indianapolis.

69-year-old Adolf Stegbauer was pronounced dead Monday morning of complications from a stab wound.

His sister-in-law, 77-year-old Franziska Stegbauer, was killed Thursday after attempting to stop the fight between him and her grandson.

39-year-old Chris Rondeau is expected to be charged with murder in connection with the incident.

Lake Monroe

Every spring my brother, my dad, and I take a fishing trip to Lake Monroe. It is located by Bloomington, IN. This past weekend we returned to the lake for our tenth trip. It was a bit cold on Saturday, but we still had fun and caught quite a few fish. Between the three of us, we caught about 60 fish. However, in years past we have greatly surpassed that. On more than one occasion we caught about 300 fish altogether. It was a bit early for us to go this year, so the fish weren't quite as lively. It doesn't really matter how many fish we catch, because we still have fun just hanging together.

Charlie (Corey) has quit!!!!

The man that was the face of Charlie's Charter for so long, has quit his job. It is a sad day in Ball State's History.

Freewriting again...

The thought I will start with is structure... writing structure to be more specific. If a paper is structured then the ideas and thoughts it conveys will stay in your mind. If it doesn't have structure, then it is like water that just slips from your mind. Basically, if you want to make a point in your writing, then you must have structure in your paper. A key component to good structure is the thesis statement. What will constantly be reiterated throughout your paper? What is the point you're trying to make? Doing an outline before you write your paper is always a good strategy as well. An outline is like blueprints. Any great architectural feat has blueprints.
I don't really know what else to write. I'm totally ready for school to get out. Random sentences like this are bad for a good structure.

Log

Mon 3/16- Today we did some intensive reviews. Jacob Taylor and Olin Yarger were the two people we reviewed. Jacob's paper was on nuclear power and Olin's was on Oil if memory serves me right. I remember being impressed with points made in both papers. It has become interesting to watch each writer in the class improve and our classmates have a hand in doing that.

Wed 3/18- Today we examined our blogs. Over spring break we were assigned to evaluate the course goals. Personally, after reviewing and evaluating these goals I was amazed at how repetitive and stupid some of them are. This was the opinion of many in the class today. Even Mr. McArdle has some issues with the way these goals are set up.

Fri 3/20- Today we were supposed to have an in class essay, but it was postponed. Instead, we were given time to free write. This activity was very beneficial. It allowed me to just dump all of my thoughts out. After that I saw ideas that I didn't even know were in my mind. We had a discussion on our thoughts towards the end of class.

"And I'm free... freewriting" (tom petty)

I would really like to make good revisions to all of my papers, so I will start with my first assignment and work down...

No child left behind. what is it? what are its goals? is it accomplishing goals? does it favor a certain race? does it work well some places and not others? President Obama and current affairs regarding education. revisions. parent reactions. Indiana. test scores. high school success rates. college success rates. how has it affected me, family? watch for generalizations. Many don't support NCLB, use them to advantage. past educational systems. pros/cons. NCLB major problems?

Solving the Problems. who? Obama? Congress? state petitions/action in general? what needs revised? funding. curriculum. textbooks. Start integrating technology. textbooks may become obsolete. different grading scales. what can be defined and graded. Creativity can't necessarily be graded, but what about things related to creativity. Innovation. writing. speech. go back to the training and education system of the Spartans. uhhh... may be not.

Moral Flexibility. what is it? does everyone have moral flexibility. in a sense, most likely. Thank you for smoking. Nick Naylor. has moral flexibility. arguments valid? are moral flexibility and validity related. Gorgias and Naylor similarities. What action or statement defines their moral flexibility?

Elixir

Well, I set out to Wal-Mart today with my pal Andrew to go get some Sobe drinks. There was one flavor in particular that I wanted called yumberry pomegranate. It is classified by Sobe as an Elixir. To be honest, this drink taste exactly like what I imagine an Elixir would taste like. This beverage is simply delicious and has the ability to brighten anyones day. Maybe its a magic Elixir. Anyways, when I got to Wal-Mart they were out of this precious item. Andrew and I decided to find it somewhere else in town for he is an avid pursuer of this Elixir as well. We traveled to seven other places around town to try and find it, but we were unsuccessful. We have had many successful adventures in the past, but those are some elaborate stories for another time. I highly recommend that you try and find this beverage and taste this delectable drink for yourself.

P.S. if you do find it, let me know
Also here is a link to the sobe official website just in case you want to check out some other products. I can't really recommend them, but you could order the yumberry pomegranate Elixir. lol

Tony Perkis

Tony Perkis is the name of a character that Ben Stiller played in the movie Heavyweights. This is arguably one of Ben Stiller's best performances. He is a great actor, and this style of character seems to fit his personality well. In fact, similar acting by Ben Stiller can be seen in his most recent movie, Tropic Thunder, which is a pretty funny movie.

I AM A CASTLE CRASHER

Castle Crashers is one of the most epic games I've played in quite awhile. I give it two thumbs way up. This game provides the nostalgic feelings of old gaming days and also a brand new touch. Thanks to a veteran classmate, James Rasley, this game was discovered and passed onto me, and thus to others as well. I am the blue knight and wield the power of ice. I storm the countryside, volcanic wastelands, and thick forests freezing evil in it's path so I can save my queen and the queens of my three brothers. Truly Epic. If you haven't played this game, then I highly recommend it. Castle Crashers can be downloaded from the Xbox Live Marketplace. Jacob, Andre, and I always upgrade our characters differently. You can upgrade your strength, magic, defense, or agility. I personally upgrade my magic mostly. Anyways, arguments can arise as to which upgrade is the best. Rhetorically, each person can make a valid case. At least try out the demo and see what you think.

Top 3 Best DC Superheroes

Basically there are only 3 good ones... (because Marvel is better)

Batman-The Dark Knight, The Caped Crusader, Vigilante, The Bat, these are all names for...The Batman. Bruce Wayne protects the city of Gotham from the crime of the citie's underworld.

Green Lantern- The Green Lantern uses a ring that channels pure willpower in the form of green energy. This energy can be used to do just about anything the wielder can imagine, from blasting a ray of energy like a laser, protecting the user with a force field, allowing them to fly, and even create solid objects. Hal Jordan was the best of the series and is pictured below.

The Flash- They have been called the Fastest Men Alive – three generations of super heroes granted the power to tap into the extradimensional energy field called the Speed Force by a scientific experiment gone awry. Each hero named himself the Flash and became champions, perpetuating a legacy of courage and valor. The three different "Flash's" were Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, and Wally West. Pictured below is Wally West.

Honorable Mention: Martian ManHunter

Out of the 3 of these, Green Lantern and Batman have great comic series.

This link will take you to some info on a great Green Lantern series
This link will take you to some info on a great Batman series

Top Five Best MARVEL Superheroes

No Particular Order

Captain America- 1940!As the world teetered on the brink of global war, frail Steve Rogers entered a secret laboratory and was transformed into the American super soldier! For four thrilling years, he battled the Axis powers - until a freak stroke of fate threw him into suspended animation. When he awoke, he was a man decades out of his time! Since that fateful day, Steve Rogers has sought his destiny in this brave new world.

DeadPool- Deadpool has an accelerated healing factor which allows him to recover from virtually any injury in moments, he can also regrow severed limbs. His healing factor renders him basically immune to all poisons, drugs, and diseases. His other physical abilities are enhanced as a result of his healing factor. His strength, stamina, agility, and reflexes are significantly greater than even the finest human athlete, and he has a high level of tolerance for pain.

Wolverine-Wolverine has a healing factor that can heal virtually any wound or disease, and also slows his aging. He also has retractable bone claws that extrude from his forearms. His bones and claws are bonded with adamantium, rendering them unbreakable.

Iron Man-Like knights of old, is identified by the armor he wears. The best-dressed of the Marvel heroes, he has changed his look frequently since his debut in 1963, but he can afford to: the man who wears the suits (and designs them) is wealthy inventor Tony Stark. His high tech gear gives him super ablilities to protect the innocent and keeps his injured heart alive.

Gambit- Remy LeBeau, aka Gambit is a master thief from Louisiana. His mutant abilities grant him increased speed and enhanced agility. His mutation also grants him the ability to change the potential energy in any object he touches to kinetic energy, and can amplify that energy so that a single playing card (he keeps a deck with him for "ammunition") will strike with the force of a bullet, or even a small amount of TNT. The more mass an object has, the more potential energy stored, and consequently, the more kinetic energy released. To Gambit, a rock might as well be heavy ordnance.

Honorable Mentions-Daredevil, Spiderman, and the Silver Surfer

Falling with style

This is amazing. You really don't get a sense of how fast these guys are moving until the very end of the video. This is the closest thing to human flight I've ever seen. I wish I could do it. Seriously, watch this video.

Snow+Firebird=Bad Situation

I drive a 1997 Pontiac Firebird. It is in good condition and everything, but most people know that these cars are horrible on snow. Firebirds are low to the ground and have rear wheel drive and fat back tires. This combination makes it hard for me to get around on snow and ice. After our big snow storm this past week, Andrew and I had to dig out my car from its parking spot. It took a good half hour just to get out of the parking lot. People all around were just staring at us. Some jerk even took my parking spot as soon as I got it dug out. Oh well, I guess it was fair game. After finishing some errands, we returned back to the parking lot where we faced the obstacle of getting into a parking spot instead of getting out. Both were equally difficult and I would like to make the point that i couldn't have done it without Andrew. Luckily no people were around so Andrew was able to use his superpowers to help me out. Yes, thats right, Andrew is the famed superhero, Goliath. With his superstrength he was able to pick up my car and put it in a parking spot. By telling you this I have ruined Andrew's secret identity, but he thought it would be funny to write distasteful things on my car for all to see, so he had it coming. : )

Racquetball

Over the past few weeks I've had the opportunity to play racquetball. It is extremely fun. I been swimming a lot and haven't been able to do any outside sports, so it was quite a relief to be able to do something new. This game is extremely fast paced and chaotic, not to mention the ball hurts quite a bit when you get hit. This game keeps you moving and hightens your reflexes. I recommend trying it out if you haven't. If anyone would like to play, just let me know. If you need a racquet, MC Sports in Muncie has some good deals. That's where I got mine. The one I have is actually pictured, but mine is orange.

My Engagement

So over break I proposed to my girlfriend on Christmas morning and now I'm engaged. I popped out of a human-sized box and proposed to her in her pajamas. I've been dating Katie for 3 years now, or a little more, and know that I love her very much. If anyone is curious as to the date of my wedding, it is June 13th. Katie already has a job lined up here and I have a very profitable job as well. Financially we're going to be ok. I know it's going to be tough regardless, but its just my next step in life.

Thank You For Smoking

I quite enjoy this movie featuring acting performances by many well known names such as, Aaron Eckhart, William H. Macy, Rob Lowe, Robert Duvall, and many many more. This movie is very well written and demonstrates some interesting thoughts. Aaron Eckhart (Nick Naylor) plays the role of a lobbyist for the tobacco company in this movie and constantly uses argument to clear the guilt put on tobacco companies by health boards and such. I think Mr. Naylor uses perspective to help him in most of his arguments. I think this movie is a battle between realistic and twisted perspective. In one point of the movie Nick uses the argument that if people said choclate was bad would you eat it. When you think about it though you're talking about choclate vs. cigarettes. Nick Naylor constantly twists the perspective of things to make the people against tobacco look wrong. He doesn't have to prove he's right, but just help the public look through a different window. One thing that can be learned from this strategy is that "if you argue correctly you're never wrong." The question of whether cigarettes are wrong or right comes down to this...

self interest vs. social interest
you can either make the choices that are in your self interest or (from the social interest perspective) you can make the choice that are best for society as a whole, by keeping a profitable tobacco company in business.

It kind of comes down to Microeconomics.
